Udi Manber, a longtime Google search executive, has been shifted over to YouTube where he’ll lead search efforts on Google’s super-popular video sharing/viewing website.

The news was first reported by the Wall Street Journal in an article about executive changes at YouTube. A Google spokesperson confirmed Manber’s move with us, saying via email:

I can confirm that Udi’s now at YouTube and that he’s overseeing search and discovery on YouTube.

Manber joined Google back in 2006 after several years working at Amazon, where he was CEO of A9.com, Amazon’s early attempt at developing its own search engine. Prior to that, he was chief scientist at Yahoo (starting there in 1998).

While at Google, he took over all of the company’s search products in 2010 in the restructuring that included Marissa Mayer’s shift from search to local products.

Google declined to give any specifics on projects/plans that Manber will be working on at YouTube.
