Social Media can help your business flourish. It can put you in front of a whole new audience, help you retain customers and even get new visitors through your front door. But the world of social media can be a daunting place. Unless you’ve spent hours reading up on social media tactics or playing about on Twitter, you’re going to need some expert advice and assistance. Everyone’s a social media expert. Or at least everyone claims to be. Every Twitter or Facebook user you speak to will claim to be a social media guru, and you’ll be able to pay them thousands to handle your social media output. But is that what your customers want? Do they want a guru repackaging your marketing material, or do they want someone who knows your company inside and out, who can offer them real insight and value?

Always choose the right person to manage your social media campaign, and remember that the right person might not be broadcasting themselves as an expert. Social media marketing is no different to any other sort of marketing in that you need to set targets. Whether you’re using it to increase sales, retain customers or increase brand awareness, you need to set targets, monitor performance and adapt as necessary. Otherwise you won’t get the most out of your social media presence.
