Google Maps Highlights EV Charging Stations
Mar 10th
The beauty of an electric car is, of course, that it doesn’t need gas. Yet a major downside is that gas stations are plentiful, while charging stations are rare. So a certain search giant intends to help EV owners by identifying charging stations on Google Maps.
Cynthia Yeung, a member of Google’s Strategic Partner Development Team, explained on the LatLong Blog, “As consumers embrace electric vehicles, we’ve also been adding information to Google Maps over the past few months to help users find charging stations. Just search on Google Maps for ‘ev charging station’ plus the appropriate area, for example, ‘ev charging station near mountain view ca.’”
Then Yeung wrote, “We’d like to continue adding more charging stations to Google Maps, so we’re excited that our friends over at the the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) are working to make more data available.”
Sooner or later, that should help a lot of people. Chevrolet and Nissan have had a fair amount of success with the Volt and Leaf, and as other plug-in hybrids and EVs come out, the demand for this sort of information should increase.
Unfortunately, Google’s move can’t overcome one other weakness of EVs: they can sometimes take a while to charge. And no one wants to get stuck sitting in a motionless car for eight or twelve hours when they’re supposed to be at Grandma’s house or their own home.

Why to buy Exact Match Domain Names?
Nov 22nd
It comes down to business fundamentals. If you’re trying to build a unique brand, and resulting keyword stream, then an exact match domain name will be a hindrance rather than a help. You’ll forever be competing with generic search traffic. Keyword domains names aren’t particularly memorable.
The premium that an exact-match domain name commands, when sold on the after-market, may not be worth it. You don’t need an exact-match domain name to rank well, so the money may be better spent getting a new $10 domain name to rank. Or, alternatively, you could buy an existing site that already ranks well for your keyword, and others, for similar money as an inflated exact match domain.
Now if you’re competing with a clear market leader, then generic won’t go to help you much. i.e. owning searchengine.com isn’t going to make Google lose any sleep. You may also be over-looking an opportunity to differentiate your offering against the market leader in terms of brand.

Google locked Verizon FiOS TV as TV Ads partner
Nov 20th
Google’s Mark Piesanen, Director of Strategic Partnerships for Google TV Ads, characterized Verizon FiOS TV as “one of the fastest growing television providers with the largest fiber-optic network in the US.”
In a post on the Google TV Ads Blog, Piesanen continued, “By adding over 50 networks on Verizon FiOS TV across 3.3 million homes, we can offer you growing access to the audiences you want to reach on television.”
Google TV Ads offer advertisers a way of reaching around 35 million households by early next year and since months have gone by since NBC Universal decided on another approach and no other partners have left it doesn’t seem like a matter of wishful thinking.
Perhaps Google will even be able to collect another partner or two before that time. Its Google TV efforts are likely to introduce employees to new contacts. The Google TV Ads team deserves a pat on the back for the Verizon FiOS TV partnership.

Characteristics Every Internet Entrepreneur Should Have To Attain Online Business Success
Nov 20th
Over the years, we have seen how the internet has greatly influenced people around the world. Now, almost every bit of information that we need is just a click away as long as you have an internet connection. Not only that, businesses also made a way to make customers lives’ easier and more convenient by developing means to sell and allow purchases online. All of these wouldn’t be possible without the Internet. Truly, the Internet has leveled the playing field for everybody. With the advancement of online technology, online entrepreneurs were born. These entrepreneurs were neither made overnight nor a result of a secret formula. Each of them developed their own guidelines that they strictly followed in order to succeed. Others had a chance to work with already successful web marketers, which gave them the opportunity to observe and follow their techniques and habits that also led them on the road to success.
So, what characteristics made these internet entrepreneurs successful? Are these characteristics still a mystery to the online business world? This article aims to satisfy the curiosity of fellow entrepreneurs and hopefully at the end of the article, they will more or less get an idea how to work their way to the path of success.
Here’s a rundown of some of the characteristics common to successful entrepreneurs:
* Target goal. Successful people always start their business by having a clear and definite goal or roadmap of what they want to achieve and where they are headed. After setting a definite goal, the next thing that successful businessmen do is to set a definite time frame to achieve that target. By having a specific goal in mind and a deadline to meet, they can put all their best efforts and focus all their energy towards achieving that goal.
* Aim High and Dream Big. Successful businessmen are not born. They all started as simple individuals who were not afraid to dream big so they took all the risk to reach that dream. Their dream served as an inspiration for them to strive hard and do everything to fulfill it.
* Enthusiasm to Learn. Since the online industry is a fast paced and always evolving environment, to be successful, internet entrepreneurs should always look for ways to improve their craft. They should never stop learning and should always be eager to learn new things. Different ways of doing things are discovered everyday so it’s important to keep up to date with everyone else especially with the competitors.
* Tenacity or Strong Sense of Determination. Working one’s way to the top is not an easy task in a constantly evolving world of the internet industry; moreover, being on top won’t be an assurance of staying there for long. Successful entrepreneurs have also encountered several difficulties and challenges, they have made wrong decisions, and they all had a taste of failure. But these circumstances did not hold them back; instead they have learned how to use them to their advantage. These top entrepreneurs never quit. They came into the business mentally and psychologically prepared and they have also learned how to easily adapt to advancements in terms of technology. So, if you want to be like them, you should learn how to observe maximum tolerance when confronted with difficulties and challenges.
* Self-Discipline. Great amount of self-discipline is required if one wants to succeed in the online business. Each amount of effort exerted counts. Remember the saying “You reap what you sow”? It may be a cliché but this holds true in the marketing industry. The amount of success that one will get totally depends on the amount of effort that an entrepreneur is willing to give in his business.
* Endurance. Don’t expect to see results of your efforts overnight. Be realistic. The tower of Babel was not built overnight and the same goes for businesses. If you don’t see a favorable result after a few months, then that’s okay as long as you know that you are giving your best and you have done proper research and that you are applying the effective marketing strategies that you have obtained from your research. Just stay focused on your goal and give it some time for you to see the results of all your hardships. In SEO, for example, it may take quite a while for you to gain high natural rankings in search engines.
* Daredevil. Every successful Internet entrepreneur took all the necessary risks that led them to their rightful positions. Don’t be afraid to fail, always look at the positive side instead of letting yourself drown for fear of failure. We have to admit, the people who had the courage to venture and break into new markets are the same people making names in the industry now. So, the next time that a creative idea pops into your mind, take the risk and invest because you’ll never know what will happen tomorrow. What may be unpopular and unfamiliar now, may be a blockbuster hit in the coming days.
* Innovative. Always try something new. Learn to experiment with new things. Think outside the box. Get out of your comfort zone. Think of creative ways to boost your business. Be unique. Having your own style and being unique will give an edge to your business and will make your name popular for breaking the stereotyped standards.
* Flexibility. To stay in the internet business, you have to learn how to be flexible and easily adapt to changes. Since the online industry is a constantly evolving world wherein, almost everyday, new things are being introduced and implemented, a good entrepreneur should learn how to adapt to these changes and quickly find ways to reconcile these changes to their current business strategies.
* Decisive and Action Oriented. Successful internet entrepreneurs know how to think right on their feet. They make decisions quickly and execute them immediately without sacrificing the end result. In case they make wrong decisions, they can easily think of ways to fix this without having the business suffer for this mistake. In short, they know how to apply damage control in worst case scenarios.
The traits listed above are only some of the qualities that a successful internet entrepreneur possesses. Being a successful internet entrepreneur is no easy task. No one is born with all these qualities, but they can be developed and nurtured by anyone. I guarantee you that it’s worth all the effort once you’ve seen the results of your hard work.

Facebook likely to launch email services
Nov 15th
Social networking site Facebook is likely to offer e-mail services to its 500 million users from Monday to compete with Gmail and Yahoomail, making it the largest email service provider on our planet. TechCrunch, has reported that the social network plans to announce a Web-based email service complete with @facebook.com addresses at an event in San Francisco on Monday.
Facebook’s planned email service is part of a secret project known as “Project Titan” that is “unofficially referred to internally as its ‘Gmail killer.’”
Yahoo, Google and Microsoft are already scrambling to retool their e-mail services to build them more around people’s social connections.
Facebook would have a tremendous advantage because it owns a vast trove of data about people’s relationships and would find it easier to graft e-mail onto its existing social services such as photo-sharing.
The launch of the new service will be made official on Monday. Together with a likely announcement of a strategic alliance with Microsoft to incorporate the functionality of Facebook in the Office applications. The new email Facebook will integrate fully the social network, using the working model of the network of friends.
An ecosystem of communication ‘sensitive’ to the world of relationships of people, able to combine text, pictures, music and video in a single container of communications. And to give this information flow a priority based on the social context of each.
All this added a social network that is already the world’s most used vehicle for sharing information, photos, videos, activities and causes.
Every month there are about 25 billion content that Facebook users make available to the network of “friends” Digital.
If it is announced, a Facebook e-mail service would allow its more than 500 million members to communicate with anyone inside or outside the walls of the social network.
With this, Facebook would leapfrog the 361 million global users of Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo Mail’s 273 million users and Gmail’s 193 million.

SMO take over’s SEO
Nov 1st
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) heavily dominates the Web publishing over the past five years. Many publishing executives, the right keywords have become far more important than their sites’ actual content or audience. But this movement toward SEO has been dangerous, as it’s moved publishers’ eye off their most important job of creating great content, and onto the false goals of keywords, hacks, paid links, and technical engineering that their audience doesn’t know or care about.
Search was significant when answers to questions were limited. Google find an answer to almost any keyword query from among the zillions of pages on the web. But at a time when such answers are abundant, it’s far more valuable to find the best content. The encouraging implication is that the audience values content, not keywords. And so it’s time to christen a new era of social-media optimization, or “SMO.” The era of SMO liberates publishers from the exercise of tricks, hacks and keywords. Instead, the big opportunity is now once again creating and refining the most appealing content possible.
SMO strategy means appealing to the audience, not an intermediary; knowing what drives interest; and activating people’s desire to consume and share. Via Facebook SMO creates a positive feedback loop, where users are rewarded for both consuming and distributing content. The key is to develop virality in media like that of Zynga games and Groupon offers. Beyond, of course, creating great content and experiences that are worth sharing, publishers need to then reward their audiences with the full range of possibilities, including prestige, access, exclusive content and enhanced experiences.
For those who are still working on implementing search strategies: if you haven’t turned your focus to SMO, you will be left behind as the charm of gaming search engines fades into the past.
