Check-in With Google Latitude
Feb 20th
Praised as a competitor Foursquare, Google’s Latitude is now presenting for users a checkin service which comprises a leader board feature. Because barely speaks of North latitude and longitude is one of the few social options out there that makes Google + look like beater social media world you can see why it is not done with funfare.
“Google just doesn’t offer much fanfare for this new feature — as far as we can tell, he has not yet been officially announced. With the latest update to the maps application, Mountain View delivered an extra level of functionality for the Latitude but forgotten all. Now the selection check-ins you earn points that are computed and used to classify users Google + in a global leaderboard, just like on foursquare. Not everyone is seeing the feature just yet, and it only appears to be after you check in somewhere. In fact, we haven’t found a way to pull up the leaderboard without first registering our location. You can see the sparse enough on the help page link more coverage and sound in the comments if you’re seeing your name sorted alongside his favorites Engadget editors and Leo Laporte.”
Worked on it, but as it is never been to impress with a sample check and it really enthuse me. How this eventually leads you to Google place page, however. When this is all included in Google + some way or in the form then there might be something to check out.

Google Research: 62% of Valentine’s restaurant searched through Mobile
Feb 16th
Google released some data on mobile search in this Valentine’s day. The company said, “There is a huge 62 per cent of the total searches for popular national chain restaurants [in the US] Valentine’s day high end mobile devices or tablets.”
Google aimed at National Restaurant chains because it could identify them clearly and as such. It may well be that the figure of 62 percent stretches over the entire restaurant category.
Google told that sometimes can’t tell what a restaurant search and what not. For example, a person searches for “radicchio” or “papaya” are looking for a restaurant, recipes or nutrition facts. On the other hand, Google likely know that Morton or McCormick & Schmick’s restaurants.
Google also reported research of last minute for the terms related to the flower has increased by 227% during the same week before Valentine’s Day. The same day “consumers were more likely to click to a week of calls during the week of 560%.” And mobile clicks for instructions 514% during the same period that people were trying to find a florist nearby.
Google saw the rise of queries as well as Valentine’s Day weekend on the tablet. This is in line with the Tablet PC usage patterns that are heavier, at weekends and during recovery. Last-minute searches went to pieces and Smart phones.
Google use the data to create the valid point that if your big or small business (florist, restaurant, etc.) wasn’t optimized for cell phone you might have miss out on some significant revenue opportunity
In a related vein, Google also offered an instructive case study where 1-800-Flowers, which was recently renewed mobile site and saw an immediate profit in engagement and conversions.
