Matt Cutts Lead Towards PageRank Penalty On Selling Links
Aug 29th
Recently the great SEO Specialized, Matt Cutts lead towards search spam about the posted blog named “Why did our PageRank go down?”
The post is a reminder to webmasters that selling links that pass PageRank can lead towards the Google penalty.
In October 2007, Google officially came out saying selling paid links can hurt your PageRank and then shortly after, Google dished out the PageRank penalties to many web sites, including some major newspaper web sites.
Since then, Google added the terms to their webmaster guidelines and has done some videos on the topic.
Matt shared the email he sent to the publisher about the reason of their PageRank dropped. In short, he said “PageRank drops by 30-50%” typically are due to “selling links that pass PageRank.” Matt went on to explain they detected, not sure it was done automatically or manually, links labeled “sponsored that passed PageRank.” Matt also mentioned that Google “received a outside spam report about your site” with details on different paid links on other sections of the web site.
Further he said that you should submit a reconsideration request for eliminate manual penalty. “Once the site removes the paid links or makes sure they do not pass any PageRank”

New CMO In Yahoo
Aug 28th
Marissa Mayer continues to put her presence on Yahoo! Like the company announced yesterday that they have hired a new chief marketing officer (CMO), Kathy Savitt. As one might suspect it looks like the C-suite of Yahoo is going to have a significant feminine influence which could serve to make it look much different than most other Silicon Valley companies. Although Yahoo did have another woman CEO, Carol Bartz, just about a year ago, her tenure was marked by actions that befitted a longshoreman so the feel of this tenure may be quite a bit different. We sure hope so, at least.
It is reported,
“Yahoo! Inc.announced today that Kathy Savitt is joining the company as CMO, responsible for all worldwide marketing and branding. Savitt will join the company on September 14 and will report directly to Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer.”
CEO Mayer said, “We are very excited to welcome Kathy to Yahoo!” “Her extensive experience in building and refining well-loved consumer brands like Amazon, American Eagle Outfitters and Lockerz will be incredibly valuable as we define Yahoo!’s future.”
Mayer’s focus on product would lend to having someone entrusted with the Yahoo! brand to have a retail oriented background. As we await what the new Yahoo! will start to truly look like under Mayer moves like these are indicators as to what direction she plans on taking the floundering Internet giant.

Recovery Of Bad Link Building Saves Your Site
Aug 27th
During this year it is seen that lot of companies with link harms. Some of these have been companies that have gone really deep with bad linking practices. Article postings, directories, paid guest posts, really bad anchor text mix, lots of link building done for link building’s sake.
Many of these companies have real people working at them, many employees, and their entire business got turned upside down. Many of the impacted companies have good, genuine, people working for them, and they’ve been badly hurt.
Whether the participants were bad actors or not, Google behaving to protect its business. For those who were penalized, the situation is terrible.
Recovery Saves You:
We have helped a few sites to get their penalty removed.
It was a painful process. Here are presenting some process in below:
1. 2 Quick Ways to Perform Bad Link Archaeology
2. Simplifying the Task of Pruning Links
Those two posts should give you an idea of the some of the basic mechanics. In addition, here are some other things you should plan on doing when you begin work on cleaning up a bad link profile:
1. Be exactingly thorough: There is the need of analyzing each and every domain that links to you and make a call on whether it has bad links to your site or not. It is known as binary decision – it’s good, or it’s bad. If it goes in bad direction then you’re going to be requesting its removal.
2. Be laser focused: Yes, it is all the rage to be mad at Google, but stay focused on your business. Most likely, you aren’t going to sue Google, or participate in a mass outcry that forces Google to change what they are doing, so do the best you can to understand what it is you need to do, and sit down and do it. This is very, very hard to do because having your business damaged by the actions of a third party does make you angry. That just makes being focused much more important.
3. Be harsh: As soon as you hear yourself justifying that a link really is a good link, you probably have a problem link identified. Good links need no justification, and no debate is required. Also, it is critical to get back to a point where you can simply focus on building your business as soon as possible. Don’t waste your time and Google’s cutting corners, otherwise this process can take a half year or more. Cut to the chase so you can move on.
How Much Work is This Going to be:
We have seen situations involved more than one million links and 7,000 linking domains. Clearly this type of situation is going to be a lot of work. Those are big numbers but if you follow the process outlined in the Simplifying the Task of Pruning Links article you can significantly reduce the total effort. Nonetheless, we have seen projects of this size take 600 hours of work or more.
However, the bulk of the work can be done by inexpensive labor that you train to reognize the signs of a bad link. This will bring down the out-of-pocket cost considerably, and allow you to scale up the effort with multiple people. If you sit down and get right to it, you can push through the work in a reasonable amount of time.
One of the easiest ways to connect with people to request a link removal is by email. You should certainly start there, and be prepared to make multiple requests. Don’t stop there. If that hasn’t proved sufficient, look for phone and snail mail contact info.
Your request should be polite for removal the bad links. You are asking others to do favor for you. Do not tell them that there spammy links ruined your business.

He further added, after recapping the letter, “Given these changes, the tool will become absurdly useless as of September 5th.” Twitter users on seem no more impressed:
