With Adwords Make Keyword Research Machine
Mar 29th
One of the most-discussed tactics from SES New York 2012 was how to leverage Google’s query association mapping to your advantage in your AdWords campaign so that Google discovers profitable keywords for you. Here’s a step-by-step guide to letting broad, phrase, and exact match find valuable keywords.
1. Set up an Exact Match Campaign in Your Account- Enter all of the keywords for a given ad group as exact match by bracketing them with “[" and "]” – this will be your core group whose associations will power keyword discovery.
2. Copy the Campaign, but Change the Match Type to Phrase Matching- Select all keywords from the “Exact Match” ad group, select “More actions” from the top nav, and then copy them to the “Phrase Match” ad group in a separate campaign. Do the same for the ads you are running in the exact match section. Separating campaigns allows you to establish distinct budgets for each. Now that you have the ads on the keywords in the “Phrase Match” campaign, set all the the match types to phrase match.
3. Add All Your Keywords to the Phrase Match Ad Group’s Negative Keywords as Exact Matches - This ensures that exact match queries will be served from your exact match campaigns, and exact match impressions have lower CPCs, so it’s good to exact match when you can.

Twitter game Launched with a name “Fame” Boost Followers
Mar 28th
Fame can help you reach those goals of getting more & more Twitter followers as Lady Gaga.
We are not talking about being famous, although that would help. We’re talking about Fame the game.
Fame is a Twitter game designed to get you more Twitter followers. It works like this. Sign up for Fame at their website. Lucky winner is selected per day and everyone who has signed up will automatically follow the winner. The next day the old winner is automatically unfollowed and a new winner is selected.
So why would you even want to win if you only keep the followers for a day? Because during that day, you write whatever clever or creative things you can think of. The logic is that if people like what you have to say, they will follow on their own.
This is the first day of Fame, if you enter right now you will get over 1,300 followers for a day if you win. The site has asperations of gaining enough followers for the winners as Lady Gaga, who has upwards of 21 million Twitter followers.
The first winner was @AstraOnTheAir, a DJ for Long Island radio station 106.1 BLI. She gained 172 followers, less than .00001% of Lady Gaga’s, but she is making the most of it. She has Tweeted 28 times since noon today.

The Keys To Having An Effective PPC Structure
Mar 22nd
Campaign structure still leaves something to be desired. If you possess correct campaign structure, Google will then give you a quality score that is good. You will also be granted a reward of improved results. So that you may have PPC Structure, remember the following steps:
* Make sure relevancy is improved. Search engines would like to view tightly themed ad groups. This would indicate that the keywords would be related, and in tune with the ad copy plus landing pages. If you have a product such as “tablet computers”, you may want to put all the branded keywords in a unique ad group, in order that you may construct copy keeping to the brands. At this point it would not matter what the number of keywords to monitor, as it is not the exact metric to keep track of. One should put focus on the metrics downstream, and how the structure may be improved from the standpoint of customer experience compared to the size of the ad group.
* Having a better control of the budget. A large reason one is to make a new campaign is for this purpose. As this is a campaign of level control, one has to leverage a new campaign wherein there is a particular budget control item for addressing. You have to know the percentage a keyword dedicated to total spend per campaign. Should a keyword consume a part of the budget and not giving other keywords the chance to be seen, the keyword should acquire a different group.
* Make an alteration on the advanced targeting options. The following main theme behind the new campaigns would be setting advanced targeting options. Such incorporate mobile, geo plus day partying options. Campaigns have to operated separately for focusing on tablet and mobile campaigns , in a different manner from desktop. Also, you may want to set results per region, such as targeting “jogging clothes” for people in sunnier states in the winter. Whatever campaign you put up, take into consideration the factors you could utilize for campaign optimization and how you could utilize them better.
Your campaign structure is to survive its course. While there may be pitfalls, learn from these to pick yourself up again. Take into consideration how the business goals will be impacted with the campaign structure made, and you could find yourself improving.

Trends Show That There Has Been a Decrease in Blogging Activity: Implications on SEO
Mar 21st
In the past couple of years, there has been a sighting of great upheaval in marketing. As a shift begins to take place from traditional marketing to a mix between ways of marketing from the past 20 or so years.
A field of social media having with it a great array of opinions with regard to its use is blogging. One would be tempted to arrange quotes through social media to refer to blogging. Social media, in fact, would be described by a lot today would make a lot of blogs appear as long form journalism in past times.
Such an observation would explain why the University of Massachusetts and Dartmouth shows within the Inc. 500, blogging has gone down in a significant manner in 2011.
Such data would make one afraid for blogging’s future. What it will perform would make you think the factors that could be incorporated in declining blogging. But before one looks and the reasons, you would have to conclude, that because Facebook as well as Twitter appear to be the only social media outlets to blossom it would appear that resources are being directed more at social media anchors compared to other options.
This is a speculative theory: Social networks like Facebook and Twitter could be regarded as a customer service as well as retentive tool through its conversant personification. It would also be more convenient putting together quick blasts of content than composing stuff. For B2B companies, they are to locate genuine information, something which could not be fully grasped by Facebook and Twitter. When people respond, there is a lack of substance in the comeback. Compared to blogging, there is still detail involved.
In addition, blogging takes genuine investment from the reader. One would note from their daily life that blogging may be hard. People actually would have to read a blog post compared to scanning an update on Facebook or Twitter.
In the long run, the trend is expected to reverse itself, notably in B2B space, as individuals would eventually need more information to buy. There’s much more than 140 characters and posts and pages and such. You would need to retain the customer in the long run, and you do that by having a blog to describe in-depth how your product makes a difference in the world.

Confirmation of Google Panda Update 3.2
Mar 20th
It’s been a year since the first Google Panda update, and by now you either get a headache or have adjusted to it. Every SEO has already felt the brunt of this update, and now have been devising of techniques to get around it.
And recently, Google, has rolled out another Panda update, and this has recently been confirmed. There was a data refresh of the Panda algorithm about a week, and there had not been additional signals as well as algorithm changes. This only acted as a data refresh.
There had been reports in the past week or so regarding webmasters that had made comments regarding rankings. A lot had complaints that they lost rankings, but a couple had mentioned sites originally hit by Panda regaining the pre Panda traffic levels. This puts into perspective the refresh of data, wherein Google had made a run of the algorithm and made an update of the sites that have been touched by Panda.
How come this has been listed as 3.2 and not 2? It was because one of the 2.x updates was allegedly an update of minor degree. The minor update may have been the 3.1 update last November. There had been a big gap ranging from this update and the update from November since Google had stated there would be no updates in the holidays.
The first ever updates took place very early last year in February. Then came the Panda Update 2 series, which had taken place over the summer. Then October onwards the Panda Update 3.x rollouts occured. All in all, there had been a maximum 7 weeks gap in between updates.
It sure does keep SEO practitioners on their toes whenever they practice the profession. Just remember to focus on content when optimizing your sites. Also, strategically put keywords while not making the content look spammy. Finally, pay attention to the images and graphic design, and tag them for key terms. As long as you practice these tasks, a hundred Panda updates could pass you by and you’d still be standing.

Yahoo Ad Sales Still On The Downward Trend
Mar 19th
It’s not been a rosy outlook for Yahoo in recent days. First,co-founder Jerry Yang jumps ship, marking the end of an era at Yahoo. And even more recently, Yahoo has reported decline in net income for the fourth quarter. The decline was noted at 5% to be exact.
It’s a shame, as in the past, Yahoo and Google were neck-and-neck in web supremacy. Over a decade later, that gap has widened, and Facebook soon took over.
Display advertising proved to be a large factor. While before, Yahoo depended on that a lot, it is now going down 4% every quarter for the once mighty .com company.
And they’re certainly going against type, as display advertising is rising. Display ads in general have reported a 24.5% growth in ad dollars yearly. But in this case, the competition is on the upswing and not Yahoo.
Some are saying that Yahoo is going the way of AOL—once a giant in the industry, but now not as powerful. With such a bold statement, it would be interesting how it would turn out in the future.
If you’re a PPC advertiser, you would be concerned. You may be thinking of allocating a smaller budget for Yahoo because of its position in the market compared to Google, Bing and even Facebook. But whatever you do, do not phase it out completely. Yahoo still has something Google has yet to capitalize on, and that’s online news. People still go to Yahoo for a news fix, and there’s a probability they would also consider doing a search query on it after browsing the headlines. So you still need to have your ads there just for that case.
And when you have a good keyword tool to help you determine the ad and keyword activity on Yahoo, Google and Bing, you will be able to put things in perspective when it comes to your campaign. KeywordSpy is a good example, as it covers Google, Yahoo and Bing in its Tracking module. Just enter the keywords you normally advertise for in a batch campaign, and set them for monitoring on the three networks. Within one day, you will get the domains advertising for those keywords, their coverage for each, and the ad copies as they appear on the search networks.
While the ad networks drama proves exciting, you have to remain consistent through it all. And being equipped with the proper tools will aid you greatly.

New and Updated Guidelines for SEO and Keyword Implementation
Mar 19th
By now, SEO would’ve been explored by a lot of web developers out there. It pays, more than ever, to get people to your website, and having knowledge of the keywords that would direct traffic to your website plays an important part in realizing this. If the content you put out is very credible, other sites too may consider linking up to your site.
That is why you need to build up a budget for SEO. Solutions could come guaranteed, bud should the budget be small, a problem could be encountered. Usually though, the range would just be in the thousands.
Basic SEO would begin with a few steps, and we have listed them down for you:
1) Analysis of keywords – Analysis would be the initial thing you would need to undertake. Through this method, you go on to create your marketing campaign. Should you be selling bags, for one, you may think that you would like to rank for bags. But also remember that there are billions of other pages that compete for that term. The site’s likelihood appearing on that page would be unlikely, so you would need to be very specific with what you use. In that manner, you could get a high listing in Google or any other search engine. So you would need to use terms like “utility bags”, “sports bags”, etc.
For such suggestions, a keyword tool can come in very handy. And a tool such KeywordSpy could give you suggestions in two ways. First is through the Research module, wherein you do a traditional search of a keyword, and look through the Related and Similar results, showing in those respective tabs.
The second and more advanced option would be via KeywordSpy’s Tracking module. Through this method, you enter in a batch of keywords, and once the system scans it for you, along with the domains ranking for the keyword, they also suggested keywords which come from those competing domains that are not in your list which you could use.
2) The following step would on page optimizing- Online optimization would involve placing the keywords in the text in a natural manner. The keywords should come up at least once for each of the paragraphs in the text, while the text would still maintain a solid and coherent thought. As much as possible, you would need to make it appear as natural as you can. The search engines know a stuffer of keywords when they see, and could cause the site to be banned.
3) Finally, there is offpage optimization- This is the core of SEO, which would involve techniques such as link building. Having to be listed high in search engines would be majorly in light of the number and the quality of the inbound links that link to your site. With more sites linking to you, you are able to get a large amount of credibility for yourself. And this continues on. With your competition coming up with many links, you would have to come up with as much links to keep up with the competition.
Basic as these SEO procedures may be, they could help immensely in the ranking of your website for critical websites. So you should incorporate critical consideration for such an endeavor.
