Google expands its offering for small, local businesses, increasing the points of the city, website pages, and Google offers San Francisco, CA and Charlotte, NC. Google seems to also move out of the free software program.

New City Pages

City Pages were introduced in mid of the June, when the product was deployed in Austin, Texas, Madison, Wisconsin, in Portland, Oregon and San Diego, California.

City Pages has given local site owners a panel that allows access to the presentation of local businesses on Google multiple fronts in the form of dashboard, includes Google Offers and Google Places.

City pages also allows user to find top-rated places, find special deals, like spotlights community, browse upcoming event in the regions, see the most popular sites & filter by options like “vegetarian,” “coffee,” “romantic,” and “laptop-friendly.” Even users who are not aware of the city pages may end up using the tool, as these pages are crawled by Google.

Google Places is not only the way that Google wants local businesses to present themselves online. The company launched an initiative to help small business owners get a site in less time & with minimal cost as possible. In starting the program is launched in UK, program since spread to Canada & Australia. Now, in U.S. it seems to be making its way.

Google is now offering free sites with the help of partners, including Intuit. Limited version of the Intuit website builder, allows the creation of three pages is being offered to new webmasters.

After launching the Google+, I wrote a post, detail the new service feature and discussed the real obstacle between Google & success. The important of them, I noted, was that Facebook had a user-base of 750 million, and could easily play copycat to anything Google+ did that users praised. It seems like- Facebook followed exactly that forecasted trajectory, which already implemented video chat through a partnership with Skype and now offering improved privacy and sharing controls that seems shockingly Google-like.

Exactly, what features are? First, Facebook is allowing users to view and manipulate the configuration of online privacy of shared content. This makes it easier to make a statement public or just sharing with your friends. In addition, Facebook says it will extend this functionality to share more selective in the future, the in-line will be integrated into Facebook “groups” so that the functionality of the groups become much more similar to Google + Circles.

Further it is said that users will enable to approve tags before the content (image) is displayed on their profile. Increasing level of control allows any Facebook user to decline tags together or even request that the content be pulled from Facebook. Lots of other more slight changes considers an highly visible button on your profile, so it is easy to see your profile as it looks to the public eye, the option to tag those who are not yet your friends on Facebook  & adjust the privacy settings of a post even after that post has been published.

Robots.txt as you know lets Googlebot know if you want it to crawl your site or not.

Google Matt Cutts talked about some of the options in these files to the Webmasters latest video, in response to a question raised by users: “Is it better to have an empty robots.txt file, robots.txt file includes the User -agent: * Disallow: “or the robots.txt file at all?”

“I would say that the first two,” Matt Cutts said “If do not have a robots.txt file is a bit rough too risky – Not fully risky, but a bit risky, because sometimes when you do not file, your host show the page 404 and may behave strangely different. Fortunately, we can detect that really, really good, if only as a kind of 1% risk. ”

“But if possible, I like to have a robots.txt file if it is blank or you say User-agent: *Disallow nothing, which means that everyone is capable of tracking all they want is quite uniform” said Matt Cutts. “We will treat these as syntactically exactly the same. For me, a little more comfortable with User-agent:. *then Disallow: just for you to be very specific” yes, you can track all you want “If empty, then yes, people were smart enough to make the robots.txt file, but it would be nice enough to have as the flag that says exactly OK, this is what the behavior is that statement. Otherwise, it could be someone like anything can be eliminated in the file by accident.”

“If you do not robot.txt, there is just a little risk that the web host can do something strange or unusual going back,” do not permit you to read this as a “file that you know what to get a little ‘strange at this stage. ” Matt Cutts again said.

Facebook announced an update to the App Developer, which he says will make it easier for developers to manage all their basic parameters around a place.

This is a new left-menu, which displays, settings and roles credits. Sub-menu settings include basic and advanced. “The goal is to provide the base page to you from one place to establish the important settings, and a summary page for the app,” says McConnell. “Options on this page is a collection of fields are needed, you can quickly began to build a simple” Hello World “application on Facebook Platform.”

He explains more about the details of the basic setting here.

“Advanced Settings page contains other settings that relate to the App page has five components:. Authentication, immigration, security, advanced settings for the fabric (only available in applications on Facebook), and contact information,” he says. “Roles and scope of pages remain unchanged.”
