Google Panda Update and the Outlook on SEO
Jul 28th
A few months back, the SEO world was rocked with the commencing of the Google Panda update. This update saw low quality sites weeded out in place of stronger ones.
The said update got its name from an engineer named Panda. It involves an algorithmic change, one that shakes up the hierarchy of search as we know it. The new algorithms are referred to as machine learning algorithms
To determine this, Google users were randomly interviewed about the sites, which basically asked them about their favorability with them, in terms of the appeal of the content, their being shared through outlets such as social networking and sharing sites, and user reviews garnered by each site. These, plus measuring other metrics such as bounce rate, clickthrough rate and the like, would help to give Google an idea of favorable and non-favorable sites to users. Consequently, the Panda update made the favorable sites rank higher, while those with less favorable reviews went down in the rankings. And so, from that point on, the traditional SEO methods did not hold water as they usually did, and this, in turn, has led web developers to cry foul.
And while many haven’t recovered from the first update, here comes another Panda update to Google that will surely shake things up for another time. Panda 2.2 is bound to take place anytime soon.
One thing this move can guarantee, though, is the growth of quality SEO. With the step by step elimination of black hat data, you can guarantee that search is headed into a direction that it gives you the most accurate results possible.
It was a good thing notable keyword tools were also updated the time the update struck. KeywordSpy, for example, has data that is updated in real time, and was functioning during the time of the grand update. The metrics and results describe in actuality what happened during that time, and what continues to happen.
In turn you continue to get relevant results, and not ones that divert dramatically from those provided.
So to those who have stuck with their trusty keyword tool when it mattered most, we salute you. You will be glad to know that the changes have been successfully indexed by KeywordSpy, so you can get keywords that matters most.
But of course, it is not enough that you know the keywords and set out to populate your site with them. Nope, not even by subtly making your content optimized for these keywords could you guarantee that they can get you in the rankings. If anything the Panda update has taught you to go much deeper into thinking out how you create your site. A whole lot deeper.
Aside from making a site that will rank well, you would be now thinking of how to make a site that people will be willing to share on social media. A site that users would like to stay on more to either be informed on entertained. Not just a site that was optimized for the sake of. With the new Panda scheme, it’s all about the user experience.
For starters, try out many designs for your website, and if you can use peer evaluation for them, go for it. Put content in, still full of keywords, then you should rework the content in a manner that it will hold reader’s attention for more than a minute. If you can go longer, do it. It would also help if you put in links that would allow users to “tweet it”, “share it on Digg”, or like it through Facebook Connect, to make it easier for users to share your site.
Next, keep in mind the metrics used for determining site search friendliness. Even though this is part of common SEO knowledge by now, these factors are still relevant, more so now in the Panda era. Clickthrough rate is important, as Panda won’t just rank your site by virtue of the keywords inserted, but by how long you can capture a user’s interest. And we are not just talking about the front page here: we are also referring to clicking on every page and staying on them for some time. Make your site more appealing to grab more viewers, and your favorability rating will rise along with it.
Lastly, unfair as it seems that you have invested a lot of time in writing useful, unique and meaningful content; if it is straightforward to the extent that it could bore people, it could be downgrade fodder for Panda. In this case, you would need to sharpen up your writing—maybe write with more anecdotes and colloquial terms—without sacrificing the substance and the SEO factors. Continue to use keywords, but use it more subtly now than ever. When looking to keyword tools such as KeywordSpy, select the keywords that have high SEO value to your site immediately, rather than getting them all. That way, you maintain having targeted content while increasing the “wow” factor of your writing.
Of course, while this is all focused on getting Google to approve of your site, remember that Bing and other search engines still exist. Most probably they may still have a different algorithm. Though undoubtedly, it is hard to deny that Google is the leader in search, and the strategy you implement from there goes on into the other search platforms.
The ball is now in your court. Adjust your content to include subjective purposes, not just objective ones, in attaining readability. Take white hat SEO to a new level; factor in user-retention SEO as well. In that way you can appease the SEO gods.

SEO Impact On the User
Jul 26th
The overarching goal of SEO as well as SEM is to drive traffic to a company’s website. This can be done in various ways, but these entire amounts to create numerous inbound pathways to various pages of the website. By determining and implementing appropriate keywords throughout webpage content is one of the most important things a website owner can do to help promote their site. Whenever website owners start to focus on creating a website that is optimized only for the search engine crawlers, neglecting the user-experience, it doesn’t matter how much traffic is pushed to the site, visitors will leave as soon as they arrive. There are two components which have to work hand-in-hand and receive equal attention for complete SEO success.
Google Analytics can also help a website to determine what kind of keywords is pulling visitors attention in and to what page of the site. Keyword research will show a website owner that what users are in searching of. The ultimate goal should be to edit the pages that aren’t drawing traffic and enhance the ones by incorporating new keywords. Website owners need to be very conscious about keyword stuffing. It can be incredibly distracting and irritating for a visitor when every other word is a keyword variation. If this kind of website annoys a visitor enough, they will leave and not come back. Driving away the users away will eventually lower a website’s search result rankings and hinder the SEO efforts.

Timing Issue for Social Media
Jul 25th
Social media has changed the way businesses interact with their consumers. Social networks allow consumers to express their opinions about a product or service in real time and broadcast it to their online network. Customers demand one-to-one interaction with brands, large and small, through social networks. A well organized social media marketing campaign can create huge opportunities for companies to connect with their target audience on a personal level and keep them engaged with the brand.
Here are some social media timing factors for your campaign:
Seasonality:
If your company sells skiing gear, you probably don’t do a lot with heavy marketing you have to remember that your message will probably go unheard. Important news like new product launches won’t get much attention from the targeted audience. They just aren’t that much interested in what you have to say, once the weather starts to cool off, it’s a best time to ramp up your social media marketing.
Location:
If your company targets audiences across time zones you might have to maintain an active presence all day. This means scheduling out the updates so the new content is constantly being promoted.
Time of Day:
Your marketing team might be churning out updates to your Face book page every hour, Depending on your industry, it’s possible that your target audience only signs in to face book when they get home at night.

How to Choose a Good Domain Name for SEO
Jul 21st
It means a lot if you can get people to read the content off of your website. It doesn’t have to be an overwhelming hands down unanimous choice for a read, but it helps to gain a loyal following.
Unfortunately, such an aim is compromised if your site does not get the traffic it ought to get. So naturally, you step up your game in this arena by incorporating keywords in your site. Not the least being in the domain, which is the first thing people are going to note.
Your climb to prominence starts with the domain name . So you must wisely think of a way to optimize for the domain name, above anything else, in your quest for web dominance.
In starting your website, note these things while registering your domain:
Keep It Short -
The shorter that you name domains, the more memorable it will be to people. Employing a short domain name will help you fit in your site in an Adwords campaign, or even on Twitter where you may no longer need to employ a shortener.
Make It Brand-Friendly -
Like regular products, you would like to build your website around a brand. And this brand will be used for the long haul. So it is a must to use a short domain name if you would like to achieve a brandable effect with your website.
Exhaust Extension Options -
Try to register all possible combination for your website name (.com, .org,.net). Doing so will make you prepared, in the event your website information is obtained by copycats and ripoffs.
Put Keywords In The Domain Name -
Most importantly, make sure your website will use the keywords that you want people to search for when going to your website. At the same time, try to pack in as much as possible, while striving to make an impact. For example, for a flower shop domain, a mere “BuyFlowers.com” stands to be outdone by a “GetFlowersFast.com”—all just due to the sheer impact of the domain name and the message it would like to convey.
Use KeywordSpy to get keyword ideas to use in your domain name. When you enter in a common keyword for a search query, KeywordSpy will return to you ideas in the form of Similar, Related and Misspelled Keywords, based on metrics with which to gauge keywords for use in a website name.
The fruit of people going to your domain will largely lie in the name you select for it. So make sure you do not take this step for granted, and get the domain name that will ultimately decide the success of your project.

Do you know 301 Redirects Importance?
Jul 19th
Over two years I had been doing link building for one of clients. Not to pat on the back, but there were lot of good, qualitative links pointing to this site. At the beginning of the link building campaign for establishing to focus a strategy & keeps my link building efforts diversified. The site was doing very well & Google’s ranking on the top for all the keywords & gets thousands of unique visitors a month. Obviously its conversion rate was boost up. So was their profit margin. All in all, things were looking pretty good for my client.
Then they dropped a bomb on me. Without consulting me first, they ditched their old part for a brand new site which was more “modern” feel to it. I was surprised. Their old domain was the online for several years, so it was good trust factor with the search engines. Not to mention that two years of link building went directly to the drain.
One day my client called me and wanted to know why they had all these error messages in their Google Analytics account. I logged on and was really shocked by what I saw. They lost well over 75% of the traffic, had fallen to the depths of the search results and every single link I had ever made pointed to nowhere. All those error messages were from Google telling my client they links that lead to broken/nonexistent. There were thousands of them!
To create a new domain for your business that is totally within your rights as the owner of the site. But remember please, before you scrap the old site, be sure to make a 301-redirect all incoming links to your old site and redirect them to the relevant pages on your new site. By redirecting these links, you just transfer link juice to your new site that helps his confidence factor. Since your new domain is so young, the search engines have not had time to let age be a factor.
A 301 redirect is a really simple thing to do and it can save you so much time and effort in the long run. Do not try to let your link building go to waste when you move towards for a new site or delete old pages. Redirect the links and it’ll be much easier to transfer.

Filter Bubble is only way to add Google+cirlces
Jul 18th
Here is some matter to think about. We asked if Google and Facebook should be filtering our articlefor us. This was an article which I wrote in response to just discussion on about what Eli Pariser coined as “Filter Bubble” –its concept of our web content being increasingly filtered for us through personalization algorithms on several websites we use.
For instance, Google shows us personalized search results. Facebook chooses stories to show us in our news feed instead of showing everything from every friend. Meanwhile, who know what we need?
An interesting debate here, but now a new element with the Google + emergence. With this article has to be filtered as it is on Facebook, but they share instead of the algorithm.
This filtering concept comes from Google “Circles” which lets you share with particular group of friends. You can share publicly or you can share with particular circles. With circles, people are forced to choose whether they want to share with every single person who chooses to follow them or specific people that they do know.
From a privacy perspective this is all great and Google’s system has received much appreciation for that.
If Google+ grows to Facebook’s size, this would not be a doubt whole lot of filtered content, and it would be surprised if the majority of it was filtered rigidly because of actual privacy task
Is this a problem? Probably not, but still it does speak to the increasingly filtered “bubble”, the content of web users will realize it or not.

SEO Factors You Need To Take Into Consideration at the Turn of the Decade
Jul 15th
Last decade—the decade that ushered in the 21st century—the Internet has evolved into arguably the most important instrument in the world. But along with that, Internet Marketing has sealed its reputation. Thus was born SEO, PPC, and later on social media.
While there were also cons that came along with it, such as black hat SEO techniques and advertising scams, development of SEO and PPC is still unprecedented in its influence among the current generation.
Now that we are in a new decade, new steps have been taken in the proliferation of Internet Marketing. New techniques to optimize websites are being discovered. We will enumerate the steps to give you a view of what you need to undertake for this new wave of search marketing.
Creating a Mobile Version of the Site:
In addition, mobile marketing also becomes a factor. The composition of your ad would technically remain the same online on a computer, as it is on a phone. This is true, especially when the website or search engine you are composing for has a mobile version. It is likely that the text from the PC version will also have the same text when it appears in either the iPhone/iPad, Android or Blackberry OS format.
So it is important you take note of the construction of the ad or page description. Actually, the fact that there is a mobile version of a site would challenge you to make the copy catchier. At the same time, though, do not lose sight of the SEO techniques you did from the start, naturally implementing them to rate as they would on search engine sites.
White Hat is Now More Important Than Ever:
The days wherein you would spam won’t cut it for search engines slowly. It becomes more of an issue of relevance nowadays. So you would have to incorporate more natural techniques getting your site to rank. The usual insertion of keywords, placing of Meta tags, labeling of images and strategic web design is to be thought of in this regard.
Don’t procrastinate. If it doesn’t work; if at least you know that you are doing the correct thing in getting exposure for your website, you should be fine as access to your website increases. The indexing devices of the site will then discover the normal algorithms of indexing data and you should be making significant appearances in search engine items in no time.
Involvement of Social Media in Optimizing:
Facebook and Twitter pages are now being created to help optimize a site. For example, just recently Facebook allowed its users to tag photos using its service. Just as through websites, tagging photos on sites also help in the performance of a tagged object which can be a product, as it is a form of optimization.
One thing remains the same though: you reliance on keyword tools to get the job done. In that regard, KeywordSpy as a tool is your best bet. It helps uncover the keywords that your competitors are using, plus it helps uncover the domains using the said keywords. In addition, it helps in uncovering the techniques of affiliates in advertising. It is very possible that affiliates have picked up on the mobile advertising techniques. So being equipped with a keyword tool will help profoundly.
SEO and SEM continue their rapid change, and you cannot afford to be left behind. Plan your strategies as early as now, and be prepared and battle-ready as the next search engine optimization wave of change comes.
